Rich Rappa has 39 years of experience in operations management, plant engineering, energy efficiency, and global project/program management. Mr. Rappa is a Senior Vice President and CHA’s Manufacturing & Energy Market Leader. In 2016 Rich Rappa became Gryphon’s President and is actively involved in the development and execution of the strategy to advance our efforts in both U.S. and Canadian pursuits. He develops, coordinates, and implements the firm’s district energy, power and thermal generation, demand side energy, and industrial related work.
Prior to joining CHA in 1999, Mr. Rappa was the Manager of Global Engineering and Environmental Health & Safety for ExxonMobil Chemical and Manager of Manufacturing Engineering for Bausch & Lomb.
Mr. Rappa holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering (1978) from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and he is a Registered Professional Engineer in the State of New York and a Certified Energy Manager.

Michael Steadman has over 20 years of experience in the design and analysis of heavy industrial building structures, rotating equipment foundations, electrical substations and switchyards, buried piping systems, and submerged HDPE lake water intake piping. Michael Steadman is Gryphon’s Lead Chief Engineer for the Industry and Energy Group as well as Operations Manager.
Mr. Steadman is responsible for all design procedures in the department, assignment of engineer’s work and schedules, and direction of training and development.
Mr. Steadman holds a Bachelor of Engineering Degree (1994) from McMaster University. He is a Registered Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario, Manitoba and Alberta and holds his Consulting Engineer designation.
Dominic Au, P.Eng., PE, Ohio
Chief Power & Thermal Generation Engineer
Dominic Au has over 30 years of international experience in the design and testing of thermal power and combined cycle plants. Mr. Au is a Senior Mechanical Engineer, a Project Manager at Gryphon. In 1998, Dominic became one of the principals of Gryphon.
Prior to joining Gryphon in 1991, Mr. Au was a Senior Mechanical Engineer with SNC-WP London and Associates, and Fluor-Daniels, and started his career with the Hong Kong Electric Co.
Mr. Au holds a Bachelor of Science Degree (Eng, 1977) from the University of Hong Kong and a Masters of Engineering Degree (1989) from the University of Calgary, and is a Registered Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario and the Province of Alberta.
